So it has been a few days since I've posted but there was some issues with the site. :)
I'll try and catch up on the things I've done this week, not that it will take long. hehe!
Lets start with Wednesday. My legs were pretty tired from the 70km ride on Tuesday as I pushed myself a little farther than I've gone before but it was hill day and I was excited to get out there! :P
I met up with Karen as I did last week and had a great time on the Hills. I managed to do and extra double this week, making it 5.... I was pretty stoked about that.
Thursday's plan was for a 120 min ride and a easy run, so I made it a brick. only ran for 15 mins but it felt okay...not great but I did it. Karen called and wanted to go to the gym that night to do some strengh training as well as some swimming. I only did upper body weights as my legs were already tired. The swim was a nice way to end the evening, it helped me relax. I managed to get a 1000m swim in though..nice and slow
Friday I woke up and my body was sooooo tired that I cancelled my scheduled workout. I was supposed to run for 75 mins but I just could not make it happen...
Today I decided to switch my Saturday and Sunday workouts around... I did not have anyone to ride with and did not want to go by myself, with Doug still gone I did not have anyone to call if something went wrong. Doug gets home on Sunday so that is why I switched the schedule.... So that means that today was a long run.... 18.5km....in 1 hour 20 mins.... slow but steady.. thats my mantra! lol
I'm going to cheer on a good friend in her first triathlon...she is going to rock! Doug arrives just after 11 so hopefully I can get out on my bike in the afternoon. If all else fails I will just ride on the pathway in the city... I'm thinking Bowness and back should be good.

The sun came out today!
What a wonderfully beautiful day it was. 18 degrees!!!!! Finally!
This morning I started off in the usual manner, slow! I had my coffee and breakfast at a casual pace. :) I fed the dogs, cleaned up their morning messes and reviewed what was on my plate for the day. Oh what a life!
I headed out to the Y to get a swim in, pool was busy this morning but I managed to get a 1000m easy swim in. After my water play I came home to have lunch and plan my ride for the afternoon. I need to get a 65km ride in today...I was a little frightened as I have not ridden that far todate. I needed to get a snap, crackle, pop session in so I planed my ride around this. I took my new mountian bike as it is heavier and will help me build strength in my legs.. I rode from home to Edworthy park, on the way back I made a pit stop at Dr. Kane's for a lovely adjustment. I had to apologize for the wonderful smell I brought to his office, but I really had no control. :D
I finished my ride nice and strong, actually completing 70km....Yeah for me! I felt good at the end but tomorrow will be the test, hills. I hope I will have the legs to be able to power through them.

Friday Ride
I was invited to join some nice ladies on a ride today. The plan was to ride to Longview but Mother Nature had different ideas.
We met at noon at 22X and 22.... it was getting cloudy and windy but we thought it might just blow over.... so off we went.
One of the ladies needed to be back by 3 to get home for her kids so we decided to head out and see how far we could get before we needed to turn back.
It was really windy on the way out and I had to fight every hill, well I had to fight pretty much the whole way....it really became clear how weak I really am on the bike. The wind continued to pick up the longer we rode, by the time we made it to Turner Valley we were all tired. The black clouds were a little scary as well. It was agreed to that we would turn around at this point, I was praying we would have missed the storm that maybe by some gift from god it would miss us. No such luck!!!
At first the wind picked up even more, then it started raining, then hail(oh joy). I must say that hail usually hurts but when your doing 20-30 km an hour it really stings...lol the storm lasted about 15km....fun, fun, fun!
it stoped raining and the sun actually came out by the end. I was so wet and dirty but soooo happy that I finished nice and strong! 57km in 2 hours and 15 mins. average pace of 24.6km/hour
It was a good and bad ride but I proved to myself that I can do it. I just need to push myself to get stonger. Lots and lots of seat time, if I do not find some consistent speed and endurance I will not make it!

Hill filled Wednesday
I should start by reviewing yesterday's workout. I did a 1500m swim. It took me 40 mins... not bad! I did a timed 500m front crawl, 11 mins.... I'm impressed. :)
Today i was scheduled to do hills, or should I say Hells! Haha! I decided to meet Karen and Kelly in Ogden and run the hill there, it is a bit shorter than the one in Mckenzie but there are two in a row. I went a bit earlier than the girls so that I could do a couple extra. I ran pretty slow but kept a steady pace and managed to do both hills without stopping. I then did the double hills 4 more times, making the total 5 double hills, by this time the girls had arrived and I got to visit a little. I ran 4 more single hills and the last one felt almost as good as the first. Maybe I really am getting stronger. One can hope! :D Days like the last couple make me hopeful that I really can finish the challange I have given to myself.

Monday, oh what a day!
So as Monday's go today started out in the usual fasion, I slept in! Haha! It did turn out to be a good one though.
I decided that since I did not make a deposit into the Ironman bank yeaterday I would put some in today. I thought that a nice swim would be good, so off I went to the Y, I was 700m in when the guy in my lane asked my if I was training for anything. I told him and we ended up having a 20 minute conversation about Ironman(he did Canada th is past year). He gave me a few pointers and a couple of ideas for bike rides. I then got back to my swim. I managed to do a 2000m or 2 km, what ever works for you, it took me 58 minutes but I was taking my time and by the end I still felt like I could keep on going. That was a really good feeling as my lack of water time has been a concern.
After I was done I needed to get a bike lock so that I can ride my bike to the Y in the future. I went to Walmart found a lock and also found a bike cover, which will be nice for traveling. I then came home had some food and then took the dogs outside to work on the pretty new bike I bought on Friday! I attached the pouch under the seat and a cage to carry water.
I thought that since it was a georgous day I would go for a ride, nice and slow. I went out for just over an hour and did about 25km. It was such a nice day that I only needed a tank top, hard to believe a few days ago we were having a blizzard. :) I rode out along the ridge, what a pretty view, and came back throught Fish Creek Park, all the way down past the new golf course and finished it off with the Mckenzie Golf Course hill(that lovely 1km hill!!!!). I managed to make it up the whole thing still on my bike.....that is a first! I'm so very proud of myself! Way to go ME!!!!!!
As soon as I got home I parked my bike, took off the helmet and went for a run, I only did 1km but need to run off the bike every time.... practice, practice, practice...
So all in all not a bad day, 2km swim, 25km bike ride, and a 1km run..... I am a bit sore right now, but I'm confident the tomorrow I'll be okay.

Hills! Need I say more?
So today my training schedule has me running hills. Now as a girl who is really lazy, and wishes to find that magic chocolate bar that will turn me into and athlete, hills are not my favorite thing to do. I must say that I have found a great hills, by great I mean a 1km long hill!. I woke up this morning and was pumped and ready, then I sat on my butt for a couple of hours and had to talk myself into going for a run. I finally hauled my ass out the door and ended up having a great run. I only did 2 hills but at 1km up and 1km down I think it was a good day!
My goal is to write every day and I'm sure that slowly(just like me) I will get better at sharing stories. As an only child I've never had to learn to share, so this is all new to me.
